WPS: Wedding Positioning System

The Wedding Guru Judy Lewis fields this week’s wedding questions. Today: WPS: Wedding Positioning System

Bob asks: “Much of my family is low-tech and have neither a computer (for MapQuest) nor a GPS. Is there a way I can mark the route to our reception and keep them from getting lost? Remember, it’s got to be really low tech… ”

Dear Bob: You could try the old fashioned balloon route! Place balloons at strategic places along the way and hope that they don’t get torn down or blow away. Of course, the best way is to design a directions card that you put into the invitations. Make sure that you travel the route you’ve written — several times — so you can easily explain the route in case the card isn’t helpful to your guests.

Andy asks: “My future bride and I have chosen very simple wedding bands, mine a bit wider than hers. Is there a way that we can make them a bit more interesting and personal?”

Dear Andy: Many couples choose to engrave the insides of their wedding bands with their marriage date, a sentiment, or their initials. With a little more cost and the services of an experienced engraver, you can engrave a symbol or small pictures on the inside of the ring as well. Some couples even choose to put the engraving on the outside of the band. Keep in mind that whatever you do — or don’t do — those rings will be special because they’re a sign of your love and commitment to one another. Because not all jewelers engrave on-site, make sure you leave yourself some extra time.
