Welcome packages are a wonderful amenity to provide for your guests! Let’s review a few challenges you might face (and how to overcome them):
First is, of course, the amount of work necessary to put the bags together, particularly because they need to be stuffed right before the wedding. Things get even more complicated when you’re having a destination wedding, in which case the bags must be packed or assembled on site. If you’re off-site, you can enlist your attendants and host a stuffing party! With everyone working together, you’ll get those gifts prepped in no time, and you’ll get to have a girls’ (and maybe boys’) night in.
Delivering the packages may also be a challenge, especially if your guests have booked rooms in different hotels. Try asking your attendants, friends, groomsmen, or your wedding planner for help. If you can’t find anyone to do this for you gratis, consider hiring someone who wants to make a few dollars by helping you out.
Make sure you discuss, in advance, what the hotel staff will do with the bags. They can be put into each guest’s room in advance of check-in, or handed to guests as they register. Some hotels charge a fee for putting the bags into rooms. In some cases, the hotel staff will ask for the packages to be delivered the day before your event. The bottom line is that you’ll want to talk to the manager to make sure that you both are on the same page!
