Further proving that here in the Valley one can go around the world in 80 meals, Phil-Asian Foods is a large purveyor of Filipino fare — one of the best-quality Asian food shops north of Manhattan. Part grocery, part eatery, this place is stocked with ethnic edibles for purchase — packaged snacks, candies, and hard-to-find produce and meat — or to order. The adventurous can try the diniguan, a hearty stew of pig’s blood gravy with meats, vinegar, and other flavorings ($12.50 for large, $5.75 for small). But those not ready to make that kind of culinary commitment can try siopao (more commonly known by its Japanese name, shumai) which is a meat and vegetable dumpling dish served über-fresh on Thursdays ($3.69 for six).
