Daniel Lepore gave Michelle Barone the ultimate Christmas gift last year when he proposed during a horse-drawn carriage ride in New York City. The fairytale engagement will culminate in an equally impressive wedding on September 7, 2013. After a ceremony at the Blessed Kateri Church in LaGrangeville, a “surprise mode of transportation” will take guests to a reception at The Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls.
The Poughkeepsie natives were visiting the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center when Barone suggested they take a horse-drawn carriage ride. During the ride, Barone thought it would be romantic if Lepore proposed. Sure enough, he popped the question and Barone, of course, said yes. “The feeling was amazing, under the blanket and all cold on a December night,” Barone says. The couple had dinner with friends at a nearby restaurant and the phone calls rushed in after Barone posted about it on Facebook.
Lepore, the Vice President of LCS Facility Group, and Barone, a singer and event coordinator, are planning the wedding with the help of wedding coordinator JoAnn of What Dreams Are Made Of. The wedding’s 400-plus guests will experience a variety of entertainment including an electric violinist, a singer, accordion players, trumpeters, a Rat Pack performance, ice sculputres, and a mentalist. The couple is looking forward to their celebration, which is sure to have “incredible food and an amazing atmosphere,” Barone says.
