The Wedding Guru answers: You obviously have some lovely friends. I would hate to see you disappoint them by not allowing them to throw you some sort of party. Today, many couples are doing coed showers. Combining a bachelor and bachelorette party is absolutely acceptable, too. If you want to make sure that it’s “civilized” without strippers or heavy drinking, tell your friends that you’d prefer a small dinner party that doesn’t have to be an extravaganza, an afternoon picnic with fun-filled games, or brunch — whatever sounds good to you and to your friends.
