Is It Okay to Take the Centerpiece at a Wedding?

Everyone does it, but is it actually appropriate to grab the centerpiece at a wedding?

Sometimes, even when something appears to be a tradition, it doesn’t feel right. This guest-to-be is confused and wants to do the right thing.

A Hudson Valley wedding guest asks…

“At almost every wedding I attend, a guest reaches over and takes home the centerpiece — especially when the centerpiece is composed of flowers. Is this okay to do?”

The Wedding Guru says…

Good for you for wanting to do the right thing — and good for the bride (or someone in her bridal party) to give guests the go-ahead to take the flowers! If there is no “okay,” then it’s not okay to remove the centerpiece. Just let those guests who aren’t as etiquette-conscious do it.
