How to Transport Your Wedding Gown for a Destination Wedding

Traveling for your wedding? Awesome! Here’s how to make sure your garb doesn’t let lost at the airport

Having a destination wedding can be great fun — provided your wedding gown also arrives at that destination.

A bride-to-be asks…
“My fiancé and I are planning a destination wedding in the Valley. We’re flying in from the West Coast; how do we safely get our clothing and other wedding-related stuff to the venue?”

The Wedding Guru says…
In order to ensure that your wedding gown arrives safely, do not put it into your luggage! Carry it on board in a garment bag and ask a flight attendant to hang it in the first-class closet. If your fiancé is bringing along his wedding wear, he should do the same.

Select those items that you absolutely cannot afford to loose. Your bridal veil, his and hers jewelry, the ring pillow, table cards, gifts for parents, attendants gifts, and, if they are small enough, party favors, are among the items that should go into your carry-ons and stay with you on the plane.

One last suggestion that holds true on every plane flight, but is of particular importance when it comes to a destination wedding, is about packing. Put one change of clothing in each of your carry-ons. When you pack your suitcases, put some of your things and some of his in each suitcase. In that way, if a suitcase is lost, each of you will each still have something to wear.
