The Culinary Institute of America Bookstore
1946 Campus Dr, Hyde Park
845.452.7648
It’s not your ordinary campus bookstore — because it’s not located at your ordinary college but rather the verdant campus, with stunning Hudson views, of the renowned Culinary Institute of America (CIA).
Ambiance: Situated on the first floor of historic Roth Hall, an old, red brick building that was formerly a Jesuit novitiate, the view from its big windows is of the scenic valley, mountains, and the stately front fountain.
Vibe: Ignore the textbooks and school supplies — every inch, from floor to ceiling, is stocked with reasonably priced and unique items, including sensational stocking stuffers.
Mix: Professional cooking and baking equipment, kitchen gadgets, and gourmet foods. Highlights include cookbooks; CIA logo items, like wine and rocks glasses and cutting boards; apparel, including aprons for kids and adults; kitchen gadgets like the popular spiralizer, which turns fresh veggies into faux noodles; plus knives and gourmet foods, many from local or alumni companies.
P.S: No giftwrapping; closed on Sunday. Enjoy a meal at one of the student-run/master-chef-supervised eateries that are open to the public in the same building.
