This wedding guest is confused about selecting gifts for her grandson’s various wedding parties. Let’s see if we can help!
Dear Wedding Guru:
“I’m going to my grandson’s wedding later this month and I’ve been invited to the shower. Of course, I’m planning to give them a wedding gift and a shower gift. Should I choose gifts from their registry, or can I be a bit more inventive and perhaps buy them something more lasting than dishes and pots and pans?” — Giftin’ Granny
Dear Giftin’ Granny:
You absolutely do not need to confine yourself to their wedding registry! Registries are simply a way of giving guests an idea of what the couple could use and what their taste is in any number of things. Especially because you are the grandmother of the groom, I can understand that you would like to purchase something with a bit more “permanence” that, in time, may become a family heirloom. So, by all means go ahead and purchase whatever strikes your fancy.
