One of the best things about contemporary weddings is that you can customize, cut, or create your own “traditions.” Our bride-to-be wants to leave out what is usually a highlight of the wedding reception.
Dear Wedding Guru:
“Do I have to cut the cake and do all the silliness surrounding it? I’m really not into that stuff.” — Let’s Cut the Cake-Cutting, Please
Dear Cut the Cake-Cutting:
You can do anything you want at your wedding. Don’t like cake smushed in your face? Terrified of sharp objects? Go ahead and eliminate any formalities you wish. Though, I’ll say this: cutting the cake affords your guests the opportunity to see the lovely, personalized cake that you and your baker designed… but again, it’s really up to you. If you do decide to cut the cake-cutting, speak to your caterer beforehand; they’ll set aside several slices for you and your groom, so you can enjoy your cake together at some later time.
