Destination Wedding? Don’t Ditch Your Family for the Honeymoon

Cool your jets! Just because you married at a faraway location doesn’t mean you can ditch your family and friends

One of the best aspects of a destination wedding in a resort locale is that you don’t have to travel far to your honeymoon location. But you do have to consider your guests before you kick off the honeymoon.

A bride-to-be asks:
“We don’t want to waste any time. Can we start our honeymoon as soon as the reception ends?”

The Wedding Guru says:
Keep in mind that your guests have traveled to celebrate with you, so sending them off is a nice touch. You don’t need to escort everyone to the airport, of course, but most couples host an informal good-bye event — such as a post-wedding brunch — as a way of saying “thanks” one last time. Plus, you want to give yourselves at least 24 hours to regroup and repack, don’t you?
