Cruise rather than drive

Check out Classic Harbor Line cruises to or from Poughkeepsie by boat — the 1920s style Yacht Manhattan. You can include a visit to the Dutchess County Fair activities on any one of the cruising dates. Use Amtrak or Metro-North to make your trip complete.  Also, the south-bound leg of the cruises on Sunday evenings 3 p.m-7 p.m. are a great way to commute back to New York City after a weekend in Dutchess (luggage is welcome aboard).
