If you’re looking for a bit of history along with your beer, the C.H. Evans Brewing Company has a rich tradition of brewing in the Valley. The company, originally based in Hudson, began in 1786 and continued pumping out beer until Prohibition. Continuing the tradition now is owner Neil Evans, who reestablished (and relocated) the brewery to Albany in 1999. Sticking to their roots, the walls of the brewpub are adorned with vintage advertisements and labels. Today, they make approximately a dozen brews; the Kick-Ass Brown Ale is undoubtedly their best known and certainly their most award-winning choice. (It won the Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal as the best in its class three times.)

Keeping with the historic theme, the Pump Station offers a 1786 menu, where diners can choose three courses for $17.86. Options include stuffed mushrooms and calamari to start, eggplant rollatini and stuffed chicken for an entrée, and pumpkin spice ice cream for dessert.
