Once again, it’s the ever-dreaded Monday. But while Friday and a worry-free weekend may be some time away, we’ve compiled a list of the Valley’s most coveted events through Thursday to keep you going till then.
MONDAY
Putnam’s Best Chefs & Fine Wines, Mahopac
Sip, sample, and feast from more than 30 of Putnam County’s most prominent culinary destinations, including Bull & Barrel Brew Pub, Country Kitchen & Cafe, Fiamma Wood Fire Tavern, and Lakeview Bistro as well as several valley neighbors like Brotherhood Winery, Bistro Z, and more. Best of all, profits from this foodie fundraiser will be donated to the United Way of Westchester and Putnam to help fund education, job training, and crisis support programs for our community’s impoverished.
TUESDAY
Family Book Club, Walden
Whether you have a budding book enthusiast on your hands, or are hoping to help your child foster a lifelong love for reading, the weekly children’s book discussions at Walden’s Josephine-Louise Public Library are designed to enhance basic comprehension skills and interest in literature. Books are announced two weeks in advance of each club meeting. This Tuesday’s autumnal pick is The Apple Pie Tree by Zoe Hall.

September in the City, Albany
Wednesdays this September, put down the pb&j and head to Albany’s Tricentennial Park for a midday showcase of regional culture and crafts. Browse or purchase from mixed-media art exhibits or tune into live performances at lunchtime. This week, husband-and-wife duo Darling Valley (pictured) will take the stage, singing folk-pop ballads from their new album, Crooked Orchards. Special guest performer and Schenectady native Angela Bove will then take lead on the uke, singing cover songs and originals akin to the soulful sounds of Norah Jones and Ingrid Michelson.
THURSDAY
Greek Fest, Poughkeepsie
This weekend-long Mediterranean celebration is sure to have you reminiscing over your yia yia’s homemade, flaky, custard-filled galaktoboureko. Come hungry for layered eggplant, béchamel-topped moussaka, tomato-and-white-wine-braised baby lamb shanks, warm pita-bolstered chicken souvlaki, and street-grub-style shaved meat, fresh off a rotating spit. It’s all here, plus drinks, dancing, and plenty of cultural explorations. Opa to that!
