Fright Night
Lauded by publications from all over the world, the high-tech, high-horror Headless Horseman whisks visitors through ever-evolving haunted houses, escape rooms, and — for the centerpiece — a mile-long hayride whose set changes annually. With all the spirit of a local-theater corn maze but at a thousand times the budget, expect elaborate costumes, special effects, and Gothic atmosphere. Not recommended for children under 13 years old.

All the Classics
To open their 24th season, the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra will be performing selections from Debussy, Holst, and Buttersworth, as well as a performance of Bernstein’s “Chichester Palms” with the West Point Glee Chorus. The “Birth to Earth” concert is timed to celebrate a “triple centenary”: the death of Debussy, birth of Bernstein, and the end of World War I, with pieces chosen to reflect the remarkable overlap of these three unconnected events.

Taste of Spain
As authentic an intro as you’re going to get, Compania Flamenca Eduardo Guerrero bring the art of flamenco from their home in Cadiz, Spain, to theaters all over the world. Far more than just dance, this high-energy form of musical theater relies on the excitement of the accompaniment and the virtuosity of the dancers to convey stories both high-brow and proletarian. The closest you’ll come, short of flying to Andalusia.

Concert and Cuisine
John Waite, “Missing You” singer and former lead vocatlist/bassist for the Babys, will run through the many hits of his career at Bethel’s Gallery space. So far, so good. But this night is distinguished by a spectacular three-course dinner from the Center’s master chef, including Smoked Beef Brisket, Brooklyn Tortellini, and local fruit with fresh whipped cream, all of it sourced from the surrounding area.

Laugh-A-Lot
The sharp-tongued comedian Wanda Sykes has released numerous specials, and has been a standout presence on shows from Curb Your Enthusiasm to the ignominiously canceled Roseanne reboot. Her recent work has included more social commentary: Herlarious, Sykes’s most recent special, specifically focused on other female comics.
