SPAC Welcomes New President and CEO

Elizabeth Sobol to fill the seat of current position-holder Marcia White

On Friday, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) announced the initiation of new President and CEO Elizabeth Sobol, who most recently served as the President and CEO of Universal Music Classics (UMC) and Managing Director of IMG Artists in North and South America. The decision follows an announcement made earlier this year by current position-holder Marcia White that she will retire at the end of 2016 after 12 years of dedicated service.

Sobol hopes to diversify the center’s outreach and blend of programing through partnerships with renowned groups like the Philadelphia Orchestra, New York City Ballet, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and Live Nation.

“I am delighted to join the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, a vital artistic institution that is clearly cherished by its enthusiastic and curious audiences,” said Sobol in a statement, “and many of the artists I’ve worked with over the years have enjoyed performing on the SPAC stage.”

She will officially join SPAC on Oct. 1, as the center’s 50th anniversary celebration comes to an end.
