Relax and Recharge at Saunas and Steam Rooms in the Hudson Valley

During this stressful time of the year, forget about your troubles as you sink into heated saunas and steam rooms in the region.

As extreme temperatures become an increasingly popular choice of wellness experience, the Hudson Valley has you covered when it comes to saunas and steam rooms. While ice baths are shown to have a profound impact on mood and alertness, their heated counterparts are all about relaxation and slowing down. When you’re looking to soothe your muscle and joint aches, reduce your stress, and recharge, head to one of these saunas or steam rooms to sweat it all out.

A sauna-focused destination, Big Towel Spa was inspired by owner Kelly Crimmins’ upbringing attending Korean spas with her mother in Los Angeles. The mobile sauna, which is currently stationed on Hudson’s Oakdale Beach, offers public and private sessions, along with silent and congee and tea sessions. At Big Towel Spa, swimsuits are required, water bottles are recommended, and snacking is encouraged, as saunas can make you hungry!

Bodhi Holistic Spa

Hudson
Price: $30-$45

Specializing in spa, yoga, and beauty services, Bodhi also offers infrared sauna therapy to assist in detoxification, relaxation, pain relief, anti-aging, cellular health, and improved circulation. The infrared technology works differently than a typical sauna, operating at a lower temperature and instead using light to create heat. Perfect for those who hate the sweat but love the experience, Bodhi’s sauna can be added on to any other treatment or scheduled on its own for drop-ins.

At Kelta in Beacon, infrared saunas are the name of the game. The technology envelops guests in soothing warmth that penetrates deep into the body’s core to induce relaxation, release tension, and melt away stress so that everyone leaves with a glowing complexion. Sessions at Kelta range from half an hour to the full 60 minutes, and nudity is permitted as each sauna is in its own private room.

Mirbeau

Albany, Rhinebeck
Price: $60

While Mirbeau is renowned for its massage therapy, facials, and other spa treatments, some guests are just looking for a sauna session. Thankfully, both of the destination’s Hudson Valley locations offer day passes for just $60. With a day pass, visitors have full access to spa amenities like the fitness center, the aqua terrace, the locker rooms, the Himalayan salt sauna, and the eucalyptus-infused steam room.

Origin Wellness

Kingston
Price: $40

As Origin Wellness focuses on well-being and services that help visitors reconnect with their natural rhythms and cycles, it’s only fitting that the wellness center offers infrared sauna therapy. Choose between the Personal Infrared Sauna and the Thermal Relax options, both of which utilize far infrared technology to help promote circulation and detoxification. Thanks to Origin’s personal infrared saunas, a high-quality infrared dome concentrates the radiation to the body while the head is able to remain outside the dome so it is not exposed – an advantage over full-body infrared saunas.
