Swamped with paperwork: This month, the GCCA Gallery in Catskill offers two exhibits dedicated to works made from paper. “Paper Arts” is a group show of folded, cast, and cut paper, including origami created by Itoko Kobayashi and Ruby Silvious (whose “Lilies” appears at left). A solo show titled “Cut Paper Universe” features Diana Bryan’s black silhouette depictions of humorous and eccentric characters. Through March 5. Mon.-Sat. 10 a.m.-5 p.m., second Sat. 12-8 p.m.

american string quartet

Founded 35 years ago (when its members were all students at Juilliard), the American String Quartet is renowned as one of the world’s best classical quartets; in a recent concert review, in fact, the New York Times raved that “their sound could not have been more sumptuous.” The foursome stops by SUNY Orange this month to play selections of works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Ravel. an affair to remember

Just in time for Valentine’s Day: Catch the Bardavon’s showing of An Affair to Remember, the Cary Grant/Deborah Kerr romance that is ranked fifth on the “Greatest Love Stories” list compiled by the American Film Institute. Grant is a playboy, Kerr a chanteuse; they fall in love on a cruise, but each is entangled with someone else. They agree to meet again in six months’ time at the Empire State Building if the flame still burns; will they both show up? Bring plenty of hankies for this classic tear-jerker. Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. $5
