These Hudson Valley Polar Plunges Make the Chill Worth the Thrill

Do you plan on freezing for a reason this season? These arctic dips and polar plunges for charity make it easy to take the dive.

Throughout the winter, a number of towns in the Hudson Valley host annual polar plunges to raise money for charities and organizations in our communities. Although you have to be a little crazy to agree to a January swim in New York, maybe the fact that it’s for a great cause will keep you feeling warm inside. Whether you want to jump in with your friends for an unforgettable experience or make a solo splash for a special cause, here are the polar plunges you won’t want to miss this winter.

All participants are required to register by December 30 to plunge for safety reasons, but all are encouraged to sign up, and the public is welcome to cheer on the brave participants. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the This Is Me Scholarship Fund, inspired by Ryan Risco and Cait Chivonne Polhill.

Proceeds are split between the Hudson Youth Department Waterfront Program and the Hudson Fire Department’s Water Rescue and Dive Team. Crazy costumes are recommended for anyone willing to take the jump, and there will be prizes for the lucky winners.
