Feb. 6-May 8: The Hudson River Museum honors rivers and waterways in their two newest exhibits. In Thomas Doyle: If The Creek Don’t Rise, the artist explores the idea of heightened anxiety in our culture functioning as a “river” that can take over people’s lives. Celebrating the 2016 expansion of the Panama Canal, the Oh, Panama! exhibit features works (like the one above) by Jonas Lie, who painted the waterway’s construction back in 1913. Mar. 12: Delving deep into Japanese culture, Kuniko Yamamoto performs her one-woman show Origami Tales. The family-friendly event uses Japanese origami for all of its props — including masks, puppets, flowers, and even dragons. The story centers around a mythological character who shares heartfelt tales and folklore from ancient Japan. 11 a.m. $9, $7 children. Mar. 12: What better way to ring in St. Paddy’s Day than with a Celtic concert featuring two stellar bands? One of the country’s most prominent Celtic rock bands, Hair of the Dog was formed back in 1993 and is best known for the album Liam Left the Lights On Again. Professor Louie and The Crowmatix hail from Woodstock; the group has worked with The Band, and garnered much acclaim for the LP Dr. A’s Secret Remedies. 8 p.m. $25, $2 facility fee. Mar. 18: David Bromberg, often called the Godfather of Americana, heads to Orange County this month. The Tarrytown native displays his talents as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Having been in the musical world since the 1960s, Bromberg has worked with mega-stars like Bob Dylan, the Eagles, Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, and Carly Simon. His first solo album, Try Me One More Time, which was released in 2007, earned him a Grammy nomination. 8 p.m. $35-$45, $2 facility fee. Mar. 19: For the 33rd year, the Ulster Ballet company hosts the Festival of Dance. Various local dance troupes, including the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company, show off their talents on the stage.
