Nearly 100 different wines from around the world were poured at the Taste of the Hudson Valley event held at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie on Nov. 1. The evening featured an auction of fine art, rare wines, and celebrity-autographed memorabilia. Proceeds benefited the MidHudson Regional Hospital. Big-name media personalities turned out in support of friend and colleague Bryant Gumbel as the legendary newsman and sports broadcaster received the inaugural Lifetime Excellence in Sports Communication Award on behalf of the Marist College Center for Sports Communication. The award was presented during a gala at NYC’s New York Athletic Club on Oct. 15. From Oct. 23-25, the Catskills Conference brought together the region’s technology titans at the Ashokan Center in Olivebridge. The conference featured special guest companies like Tentrr, Foursquare, Etsy, and AT&T, whose representatives discussed the parallels between nature and technology. Hudson River Healthcare (HRHCare) raised more than $250,000 at its 11th annual gala, Cornucopia: A Celebratory Benefit of Harvest & Health, on Oct. 17 at Crabtree’s Kittle House Restaurant & Inn in Chappaqua. The funds will help provide comprehensive primary and preventive care to people in need throughout the Hudson Valley and Long Island.
