Jan 30: The State Ballet Theater of Russia presents Swan Lake One of the greatest classical ballets of all time, set to the music of Tchaikovsky, takes its origin from Russian folklore and German legend. Jan 24: Greensky Bluegrass Mixing their own version of bluegrass, this band combines strings with rock to form a unique sound. They’ll be performing songs from their latest recording, Shouted, Written Down and Quoted. 7 p.m., $29.50+. 

Jan 30: The Wood Brothers with special guest The Stray Birds Their recent album, Live at the Barn, was raved about by American Songwriter for its “spry, soulful folk-rock,” and the album debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. 7:30 p.m., $29.50+.

Jan 12: Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul, & Mary) Part of the legendary trio Peter, Paul & Mary, as well as a solo performer, Yarrow’s music is thought-provoking, using lyrics that convey a message of humanity and caring with melodic tunes. His gift for songwriting has produced some of the most moving songs, from “Puff, the Magic Dragon,” and “Day is Done,” to “Light One Candle.” 8:30 p.m., $45. 

Jan 20: Patty Larkin A singer/songwriter delving into deep subject matters of grief, love, nature, family, and health issues, her folk-urban pop music creates inventive guitar wizardry and uncompromising vocals. 8:30 p.m., $25. 

Jan 27: Brothers of the Road Band — An Allman Brothers Tribute This group utilizes live recordings from the Allman Brothers Band to re-create 40+ years of music. The Allman Brothers redefined rock music, mixing it with blues, jazz, and country to deliver their own unique signature. 8:30 p.m., $20.

Forbidden Fruit, the first concert of The Newburgh Symphony, starts off the New Year with three tales of forbidden love. A selection by Mozart entitled Don Giovanni Overture explores implications of the Don’s irreverent seductions, while Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet Fantasy portrays the ardent intensity of the young lovers. Finally, Frenchman Hector Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique tells the story of a lovelorn artist who is plunged into the depths of despair by an unrequited passion.
