The Hudson Valley is home to several sought-after golf courses, the latest of which is situated in Monticello at Resorts World Catskills (RWC). Set to reopen to the public for a condensed preview season on August 29, the reimagined Monster Golf Course underwent a $40 million enhancement, serving as a milestone moment for RWC as the club completes the vision it had for the property.
The complete redesign was produced by acclaimed American golf course architect Rees Jones and combines holes from the original Monster Golf Course, designed in 1963 by Joe Finger, and the Old International Course. Renowned for its undulating greens, the par-72 championship course is playable for anyone from beginners to experts, with six sets of tee boxes, extensive bunkering, various water hazards, and new lithium-ion E-Z-GO golf carts that are equipped with GPS technology to help players navigate the course.
Aside from the course, golf enthusiasts can also stop by the Monster Golf Club Pro Shop, located inside The Adler hotel, to choose from a carefully curated selection of the latest product lineup from top golf brands like TravisMathew, FootJoy, and johnnie-O. In addition to being a one-stop shop for high-quality apparel options, the Pro Shop will also serve as the check-in location for the Monster Golf Club so that hotel guests can shop around before hitting the grounds. Currently open daily from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Pro Shop will extend its hours to 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting on August 27.
Beginning August 15, tee times reservation will be available seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with special discounts granted to Sullivan County residents, active military, veterans, and hotel guests of Resorts World Catskills. Complimentary shuttle service will run every 20 minutes from dawn until dusk to allow for easy transportation to and from the golf course, making stops at Resorts World Catskills, The Adler, Monster Golf Club, and The Kartrite. Don’t forget to grab a bite at The Adler’s cantina-style eatery Dos Gatos after hitting the course; it’s open seven days a week during the golf season.
Monticello’s Monster Golf Club will be managed by Troon, the world’s largest golf and golf-related hospitality and management company. Club Manager and Director of Golf Uri Jimenez assures that “the magic of Rees Jones is omnipresent throughout the course’s 18 holes, and the hospitality excellence of Troon Golf and Resorts World Catskills offers golfers an unrivaled experience at the Monster Golf Club.”
