Families can go camping or glamping at this updated Hudson Valley campground, then pop into nearby Rhinebeck for more things to do.
Looking for a staycation that appeals to the tent campers and resort-lovers in your family? We have the perfect place — and it may seem somewhat familiar.
The Taconic Retreat and Conference Center in Milan has been renovated and reimagined into Mirror Lake Retreat, a premier camping resort. Starting Memorial Day weekend, the 219-acre property — still owned by the District Church of the Nazarene — will offer full resort-style amenities, outdoor activities, and a variety of accommodations.
The choice of lodging options and their prices are especially appealing. When fully open, it will include: four lakeside houses (from $350/night), 10 cottage rooms (from $155/night), six lodge rooms (from $79/night), RV sites and rentals (from $65), cabins and shelters (from $45/night), and tent campsites (from $35/night). At press time, the shelters, tent campsites, and lodge rooms were not yet complete.
Wherever you pitch your tent, you’ll have access to full resort amenities, including WiFi, communal fire pits, a soccer field, full multi-purpose gymnasium, hiking trails, and 9 square in the air and gaga pits. Add-on amenities include boat rentals, firewood, golf cart rentals, rock-climbing tower, archery, an ax-throwing range, and a low ropes course.
For those who feel the need to explore outside the retreat, shops, restaurants, and a movie theater are nearby in the charming villages of Red Hook and Rhinebeck.
