Beacon-based canned cocktail company Liquid Fables is built around the belief that storytelling and drinking go hand in hand. As a natural extension of that ethos, the brand recently launched its own book club to bring the community together through good reads and great drinks. The club, which meets monthly, takes place in the Beacon tasting room.
The idea for the book club was started by local and longtime Liquid Fables supporter Dakota Carpenter. She came up with the idea as a way to further consolidate the brand’s storytelling background with its flavor-forward canned cocktails. Carpenter also has an extensive knowledge of literature and deep love for reading, so she is the perfect fit to lead the book club each month.

As far as content goes, the Liquid Fables Book Club is open to exploring various genres and themes to ensure a rich and engaging reading experience for its members. The club looks forward to diving into fiction, fantasy, contemporary romance, thrillers, and more at its monthly meetings, and is actively searching for more titles to add to the list for future reads.
Along with each meeting of the club, Liquid Fables will highlight a new, limited release cocktail that reflects the topics of the monthly book selection. Cleverly dubbed “The Bookworm,” this specialty cocktail will be the product of club members’ creation, as they will be given the platform to brainstorm and vote on flavor profiles that inventively represent their reads. After all, it wouldn’t be a Liquid Fables event without flavorful and fun-spirited cocktails.

So far, there has been a tremendous buzz around and enthusiasm for the launch of the Liquid Fables Book Club. To kick it all off, the brand started an Instagram account to unite potential local members and reach others who are not able to make it to the tasting room, but who still want to participate in the festivities from afar. So, even if you are not close to the Beacon area, you can follow along with the book club’s agenda and ship a Liquid Fables canned cocktail directly to your doorstep to sip while you read.
“By building connections through the love of reading and cocktails, we hope for our book club to establish camaraderie among our members and possibly connect them beyond the pages of books. As we delve into various genres and themes, we can broaden our horizons, challenge our assumptions, and appreciate the richness of human experience, which can only enrich our community positively,” says CEO and co-founder Matt Green.

Liquid Fables aims above all else to foster a sense of community with its book club by creating a welcoming and inclusive space for individuals with a shared passion for reading. In the future, the company has hopes for its book club to expand and eventually include different chapters throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond where cocktail lovers can gather with their communities at bars and bookstores to bring storytellers together.
