Some pig
Dec. 4: Charlotte’s Web This familiar tale by E.B. White comes to life onstage at the Emelin Theatre. When Wilbur the pig is threatened with becoming a pork chop, an unlikely friend — a spider named Charlotte — weaves a web displaying words that tell what’s special about Wilbur. Thanks to Charlotte, the pig becomes a sensation on the farm — and makes the farmer rethink his actions. 11 a.m. & 1:30 p.m. $18, $13 children. • 153 Library Ln., Mamaroneck. 914-698-0098 or www.emelin.org
Home for the holidays
Dec. 10-11: Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop Normally we wouldn’t suggest putting sticky candy all over the walls, but at this Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum workshop, it’s encouraged. Each participant receives his or her own fully assembled, locally baked gingerbread house, and a variety of candies and chocolates with which to decorate it. The hardest part is trying not to eat the whole thing on the drive home. Fri. 5 & 7 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. $25. Can’t get enough arts and crafts for the season? Check out the museum’s Light Up the Winter event, during which you can make all kinds of creations from a variety of cultures, including a clay menorah for Hanukkah and a colorful design for Diwali. Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. $4 plus admission. • 75 N. Water St., Poughkeepsie. 845-471-0589 or www.mhcm.org
