Cool beans
March 19: Jack and the Beanstalk Fee, fi, fo, fum! The timeless tale of brave Jack and a not-so-gentle giant comes stomping into the New York State Museum. This onstage adventure puts music by Sir Arthur Sullivan to the original story by John Davies, which teaches us about the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you’d like to be treated. This performance by Opera to Go takes place in the Huxley Theater. (Note: Be sure to arrive early — there will be no admittance once the show begins.) 2 p.m. • Empire State Plaza, Albany. 518-474-5877 or www.nysm.nysed.gov

No bones about it
March 20: The Bare Bones Put on your best detective’s hat and head over to the Greenburgh Nature Center, where you’ll learn how to decipher clues about an animal’s life based on its bones. By examining a skeleton, you can find out what type of food the critter ate, what kind of terrain it lived on, and other facts. Then, get up close and personal with some of the center’s living animals. (Recommended for children five and older.) 2 p.m. $6. March 26: Water, Beautiful Water! There’s water, water everywhere — for now. Learn all about water conservation in this interactive puppet show that will get the whole audience singing — and thinking green. (Recommended for ages two through seven.) 10:30 a.m. $6. • 99 Dromore Rd., Scarsdale. 914-813-1280 or www.greenburghnaturecenter.org
