Bear Creek Farm

With 38 acres of fresh-cut flowers, Bear Creek Farm stands out locally for reaching the top ten percent of sales volume for female-operated farms throughout the country (yes, you read that correctly) in its second year of operation. The products are available for individual purchase in wholesale markets throughout the tri-state area all the way down to NYC’s Union Square Market. Bluefield Farms

If you’re a regular at the Nyack Farmers’ Market, you are likely already familiar with the iconic Bluefield Farms’ brilliant arrangements. Behind the beautiful and unique assortments on the farm stand lies a 10-acre farm only a short drive away from Nyack, which grew with the help of several master gardeners from the Cornell Cooperative Extension. A true member of the community, Bluefield offers a community open farm day every fall and sells bouquets and potted flowers to several farmers markets throughout the area and down to NYC.

Shhh… this farm is a hidden gem run by two sisters with a passion for cut flowers. Well, it’s not really a secret, but the flowers grown on the farm’s 18 acres of land certainly call to mind The Secret Garden. Enjoy some beautiful foxgloves in June and fresh chamomile in August or mix and match with dozens of unique options during each of the warmer months. The sisters at Cedar Farm are not afraid to try different arrangements, and their unique flowers can be found at farmers’ markets throughout Colombia County.

The Cutting Garden

Seemingly straight off a puzzle box cover, The Cutting Garden looks too good to be true. Emphasizing the slow flower movement, the yellow garden cottage is surrounded by eye-watering blooms that can be purchased in bulk or personally selected DIY-style. A wonderful day trip for a flower lover, The Cutting Garden lets locals start the morning surrounded by flowers before skipping over to the Domesticities Shop, where upcycled goods and oddities await a new home.

Flower Blossom Design

Part flower farm, part design studio, Flower Blossom Design is a husband-and-wife operation that began in 2013 when the couple started providing specialty flowers for landscape clients. Since then, the Ghent farm has expanded to grow more than 80 varieties of annuals and perennials for use in CSA shares and custom floral designs for weddings, parties, and events across the Hudson Valley.

Scheuermann Farms and Greenhouses

Five generations of farmers are the primary ingredient in this magic potion for gorgeous, fresh-cut flowers in the Hudson Valley. The rainbow assortment of flowers at Scheuermann Farms and Greenhouses will make even the grayest thumb green, and the farm’s free planting guide can help any want-to-be plant lovers find their footing. Locals can find flowers and arrangements at the on-property garden center over the summer and perhaps even stumble across some of the fresh produce, like the famous sweet corn grown on the property.

Stars of the Meadow

The little guy does not always come in last! Stars of the Meadow is proof of this, with over 60 varieties of eye-catching, in-season flowers grown on a one-acre property. Quality over quantity is the motto here, but that does not mean these hand-picked flowers are difficult to find. Careful, hand-arranged bouquets are available at a variety of local shops and farmers’ markets such as High Falls Food Co-Op, Chappaqua Farmers Market, and Grow NYC Greenmarket.

Tiny Hearts Farm

What happens when you take the artistry of two classically trained musicians and blend it with a 22-acre flower farm? You get Tiny Hearts Farm, with its artful blend of cut flowers and seedlings available at a country-style shop in Hillsdale. Whether you want to grow your own flowers with six-packs of seedlings for seven dollars or treat yourself to fresh arrangements available through curbside pickup, delivery, or CSA subscription, Tiny Hearts Farm can accommodate with some artistic flair on the side.

Treadlight Flower Farm

Did someone say flower power? If so, Treadlight Flower Farm definitely got the memo. Though primarily a wholesale farm, Treadlight Flower Farm offers in-season flowers such as dahlia tubers for individual shipment throughout summer and special arrangements for Longseason Farm CSA members only. With some luck and timing, you can find the arrangements at farmers’ markets throughout Westchester County (try Larchmont Farmers’ Market) or trek down to NYC’s wholesale flower market.

Twilight Acres

Stone Ridge

Though its name is Twilight, a vibrant sunrise might be a more apt description to capture the beauty of the flowers grown on this three-acre property. From brilliantly yellow sunflowers to popping pink dahlias, colorful assortments of the farm’s fresh flowers are available at local boutique stores and farmers’ markets or through a CSA subscription. For a more Instagrammable experience, stop by the farm’s rustic truck-turned-market stand and flower cart to snap some photos of the arrangements available for honor system purchase (trust us, rustic truck + flowers = beautiful photos, every time).

Twin Ponds Greenhouses and Farm

Though known for its seven-mile corn maze and fall festivities, Twin Ponds keeps the local fun alive through summer as well. With a diverse range of baskets, bouquets, and u-pick blooms to choose from, it is a flower lovers’ summer paradise. Under owner Tom “Thumb” (a well-earned nickname), the farm has grown from a single greenhouse in 1995 to a 22,000-square-foot operation today. Online ordering for in-season flowers is available now, with deliveries on Tuesdays and curbside pickup throughout the week.
