It’s prom season, and this Saturday, you too can re-live the biggest day of your high school career – this time, without the pressure of finding a date.
The Nyack Center will host Rockland County Pride’s ’80s Prom Night from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Dance to your favorite ’80s tunes in the glow of a spinning disco ball, strike a classic prom pose in the photo booth, or design a corsage for you or your crush.
If you’re really looking for a throwback, grab a glass of the Pretty in Pink-themed punch from the bar, or munch on fine snacks of your childhood, like Ring Pops, cheese balls, and of course, Twinkies.
So whether you choose to dress up or don’t, bring a date or come alone, the night is sure to be one to remember.
“I think a lot of people never had the opportunity to attend a traditional event like a prom in the way they wanted to. This is a chance to do it however you want to!” said co-host, Jennifer O’Connor.
Tickets for the event can be purchased here, and with it, all ticket holders will be entered in a raffle for gift card prizes to Nyack-based Kiam Records, Gypsy Donut, Prohibition River, and Tempatations Café.
All proceeds will benefit Rockland County Pride’s initiatives to open a brick-and-mortar center in the fall. With it, the group plans to extend its outreach with services like support groups, senior care, and family programs.
“I would have loved to have had access to a place like this as a younger person, and they just didn’t exist back then,” said O’Connor. “It feels particularly meaningful to be able to contribute to the pride center in this way.”
