For the first time ever, Hunter Mountain kicks off a film festival to recognize the thriving film scene in the greater Hudson Valley and across the nation. Alongside the Doctorow Center for the Arts and The Orpheum Film and Performing Arts Center, Hunter Mountain hosts panels with guests like Heidi Eklund, the owner of Hudson Valley Casting; Hunter Emery, a star on Orange Is the New Black; and Anthoula Katsimatides, an actress on FBI and producer on the documentary Olympia. After the cocktail hour kickoff on Thursday, the festival continues throughout the weekend with movie screenings, motorcycle rides, and an award ceremony and gala on Saturday night.
Wines & Bites
Shawangunk Wine Trail
May 18-19
Get ready to sip, sample, and savor your way across the Hudson Valley with the Shawangunk Wine Trail’s Wines & Bites weekend. Whether you go for the full weekend or the Sunday-only ticket, you’ll begin at one of the participating wineries to receive a souvenir glass, which you’ll then use to taste-test wines throughout the day. Once you sample the vino and munch on small bites, you can move along to the remaining wineries on the list at your own pace. A number of starting locations are already sold out, so make sure you get a move on tickets if you want to hit a specific vineyard first. Designated driver passes are available as well.
Vintage Flea Market

Hey vintage lovers, this one’s for you! If you get a thrill from scouting for old-school treasures, decorations, and home décor, you’ll be all about this Cohoes festival. Browse the goods from multiple vendors, who stock everything from retro clothes and records to antique homegoods and industrial knickknacks. Admission is free, and the market takes place rain or shine.
Summer Kickoff Party
Crossroads Brewing Company Catskill Taproom, Catskill
May 18, 1-11 p.m.
Jump headfirst into summer at Crossroad Brewing’s celebratory fest on Saturday. Over the course of the afternoon, the Catskill brewery hosts a cornhole competition, live music, and summertime fun on the patio. For one day only, The Gallery at Atlas opens its doors for Beautyform, an interactive beauty, fitness, and wellness expo in Newburgh. In advance of the event, attendees can sign up for yoga and wellbeing classes, then attend panels on best lifestyle practices and speak with leading wellness gurus about living a natural, healthy life. In addition to the workshops and panels, some of which are hosted by Lululemon and Kiehl’s, a number of food, fashion, and beauty vendors will be onsite for shopping and education opportunities too.
