In the Landscape: Mind the Forest Health and Wellness, Outdoors

IN THE LANDSCAPE: MINDFUL GUIDED HIKES
Manitoga presents In the Landscape, a series of informed and inspired walks that reinforce observation and sensory exploration. Each individually themed walk is designed to relax, teach and cultivate a sense of place while exploring this resilient woodland with experts in horticulture and meditation.

In the Landscape: Mind the Forest
Friday, May 20, 3 – 5pm
Sunday, July 17, 9 – 11am
Sunday, October 23, 9 – 11am
Sunday, December 4, 9 – 11am
$30 per person
Children (including infants) must be at least 12 years old to attend
Join Mindful Outdoor Nature Guide Jane Dobson for the Japanese practice of Forest Bathing. Unlike a typical walk in the woods, Forest Bathing is slower and more deliberate, allowing our bodies and minds to reset in the natural environment we evolved from. Nature exposure lowers blood pressure and heart rate, reduces stress, and boosts our immune system and mood. Join any one walk or the full series as we explore different aspects of nature connection. Reconnect with nature, oneself and others. Space is limited, reservations required. Buy tickets at visitmanitoga.org

From the brilliant minds of Improv and Comedy Legend Colin Mochrie and Master Hypnotist Asad Mecci comes a brand new, mind-blowing, jaw-dropping, side-splitting show! Hypnosis and Improv — two art forms that have mystified and entertained fans, sceptics and everyone in between for decades worldwide – come together as two masters of their crafts unite for a totally unique comedy experience — HYPROV: Improv Under Hypnosis.

Twenty random volunteers from the audience will be put under hypnosis (the process of which is a show in its own right), their inhibitions evaporated and their minds no longer their own. The four or five best are left on stage when one of the world’s leading improvisers enters! Colin Mochrie (co-creator) will initiate and manipulate those under hypnosis himself and turn the show into an improv extravaganza!

In the hands of two masters, and solely crafted from the audience’s uninhibited subconscious, this will be an entirely original and completely unforgettable show, for who knows where the unconscious mind will go. What can possibly go wrong? Come and see for yourself!

On view in the House & Studio: Formafantasma at Manitoga’s Dragon Rock: Designing Nature in collaboration with Magazzino Italian Art
On view in the Landscape: Tea House by designers Yoshihiro Sergel & Diana Mangaser

Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin of the Italian design duo Formafantasma present a selection of works in dialogue with the House, Studio and surrounding landscape at Manitoga. The installation focuses primarily on their early works in which the use of materials and preference for the organic encounter – in both familiar and unexpected ways – Russel Wright’s experimental attitude and his vision of an architecture in harmony with nature. Formafantasma and Wright share a broad design reach, across medium and scale, from object to environment. Although separated by almost a century, both address environmental concerns and ask if design can be a steward of nature and our future.

ABOUT THE TEA HOUSE:
Manitoga / The Russel Wright Design Center is thrilled to extend the Tea House by designers Yoshihiro Sergel & Diana Mangaser in the landscape into 2022. Set upon quarry-stone footings among the ferns and grasses of Mary’s Meadow, the Tea House exquisitely expresses the integration of design and nature at Manitoga while evoking Russel Wright’s great affinity with Japan. Designers Yoshihiro Sergel and Diana Mangaser conceived and hand-crafted the Tea House from wood, paper and string as a space for contemplation and ritual, a stage for poetry and music, and as an open framework for the seasonal changes of nature as spring turns to fall and becomes winter at Manitoga.

Absolute Queen is an amazing realistic Queen show that replicates the songs and effects and music note for note live.
