Events: Polly’s Editor’s Picks in July 2012

Senior Editor Polly Sparling lists her top event picks for July 2012

Sculpture for a New Century, an outdoor exhibit at SUNY Orange’s newly expanded Newburgh campus, showcases eight  pieces inspired by the natural landscape of our beloved Valley. A four-person jury convened by the National Sculpture Society chose the works on view, which have been fashioned using traditional materials (marble and bronze) as well as fiberglass and reinforced concrete. An accompanying indoor show in the college’s Kaplan Hall details the processes used by an artist to turn a small-scale model into a full-sized, finished work. Through Sept. 30. • Upper plaza promenade, SUNY Orange campus. 1 Washington Center, Newburgh. 845-562-2454 or www.sunyorange.edu/sculpture
