For most of the 19th century, Currier & Ives produced hand-colored lithographs, which it described in its advertising as “colored engravings for the people.” The Legacy of Currier & Ives, now on view at the Albany Institute for History and Art, features 64 of the firm’s depictions of everyday American life — some of which were designed by Eastman Johnson, Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait, and other noted artists from that era. Wed.-Sat. 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sun. 12-5 p.m. through June 15. $10, $8 seniors & students, $6 children under 13. • 125 Washington Ave., Albany. 518-463-4478 or www.albanyinstitute.org
If you remember the days of poodle skirts, hot rods, and Brylcreem, then the Corvettes Doo Wop Revue is a must-see. The show is part of the Bardavon’s “Matinees and Music” community outreach program. Apr. 11 at 2 p.m. $6 suggested donation. • The Bardavon Opera House. 35 Market St., Poughkeepsie. 845-473-2072 or www.bardavon.org
