Word Power

May 10: Super WHY Live: You’ve Got the Power! Based on the Emmy-nominated PBS program, this live show takes preschoolers inside a book to help teach them the power of words. Each character has his or her own super-power ­— like Alpha Pig’s alphabet power or Princess Presto’s super spelling. Plague of Locusts

May 11: The Cicadas Are Coming No worries, there isn’t a real swarm of insects heading our way; but you can learn a lot of fun facts about these summer bugs at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum. For instance, did you know that there are close to 2,500 species of cicadas on Earth? Or that each little locust can live up to 17 years? Throughout the year: Fun, 2, 3, 4! Learn math while having fun at the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum’s newest exhibit. Each of the 16 creative games teaches a different mathematical skill. Magic Moments

May 19: Fairy and Gnome Houses Come dressed as a beautiful fairy or a mischievous gnome to hear tales of these woodland sprites.
