Block Party
June 9: City Blocks Inspired by children’s artist and designer Joel Henriques, this craft event teaches kids about cities and recycling. Participants paint their own cityscapes on recycled wood. These “city blocks” can then be moved, flipped, and shifted to create a unique metropolis. Space is limited to 15 children. 1 p.m. $5. June 20: 21st Century Damsels and Dragons Spend time outdoors on Olana’s picturesque property while learning about dragonflies and damselflies from an insect expert. And be sure you’re up for a speedy chase: At the end of the presentation, you have the chance to try to catch the bugs, who can fly as fast as 30 miles an hour. Preregistration required. 10 a.m. $5. The Funnies
June 1: The Maestrosities What do you get when you cross musicians with a clown troupe? A goofball show filled with great music and great laughs. Using instruments like the accordion, clarinet, ukulele, tuba, trumpet, and — the pièce de résistance — stainless steel spoons, these five jokesters create tunes interspersed with sight gags and verbal quips to get guests rolling in their seats.
