June 11: Sleeping Beauty The beloved fairy tale of a beautiful princess cast under a spell that could only be broken through true love’s kiss becomes even more whimsical when performed as a ballet. Watch graceful dancers in elegant costumes interpret this story at the Bardavon Theater. June 4: Los Caribeños Turn up the heat! Prepare for summer with the musical sounds of the tropics as this cultural group performs traditional Puerto Rican tunes at the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum. June 4: 4-H Fishing Clinic: Learn How to Fish Live out your Tom Sawyer fantasies and learn how to cast a line across the open water. For this fun, educational event — cosponsored by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County — all participants will receive a rod, reel, tackle kit, 2011 fishing directory, and a hat (just throw on some sunscreen and you’re good to go). June 18: Young Ladies’ Tea Party Wear your prettiest hat and make some new friends at the Hill-Hold Museum’s old-fashioned tea party. This year’s theme is “Butterflies in the Garden,” and prior to sitting down to sip iced herbal tea with mint and nosh on an assortment of crackers, finger sandwiches, salads, and sweets, guests will stroll around the museum grounds on a search for beautiful butterflies. Girls interested in arts and crafts can create a butterfly fan, and the event also features various outdoor games loved by children of the past, such as stilts, croquet, hoops-with-sticks, and more.
