Events: Kid’s Korner in April 2013

Spring is in the air, so spend some time outdoors with raccoons and UFOs. And on a gloomy day, perk up with shows based on two classic books

Tall Tales

Apr. 25: The Gruffalo It’s tough for Mouse to be so small when there are bigger, hungrier animals out there looking for a snack. So he makes up the story of the nasty Gruffalo to scare the other creatures away. But soon he comes face to face with his own made-up monster! This musical adaptation of the book by the same name follows Mouse on his adventure with the beast. For grades pre-K through 3. 10 a.m. & 1 p.m. $10. • The Bardavon Opera House. 35 Market St., Poughkeepsie. 845-473-2072 or www.bardavon.org

The Great Outdoors

Real Rabbits

Apr. 14: The Velveteen Rabbit Based on the beloved children’s book, this show combines music, dance, and life-sized puppets to tell the tale of a toy rabbit who yearns to become real.
