1. Bull and Buddha restaurant in Poughkeepsie celebrated its one-year anniversary with a party and graffiti competition in September. Ten artists competed for a $500 prize by spray-painting designs on a fence surrounding the eatery. Smaller canvases were auctioned off to benefit the Children’s Media Project; a total of $1,000 was raised for the nonprofit arts and education organization
2. The New City Little League 11-12 Softball All Stars were introduced to fans at Yankee Stadium. The team was honored for making it to the 2011 Little League World Series in Portland, Oregon

5. More than 100 guests attended “Dinner at Eleanor’s: A Moveable Feast,” a fund-raising event for the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill and AIDS-Related Community Services. 6. St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital held a gala to honor the “pink ladies” auxiliary, a group of community advocates and fund-raisers that has assisted the hospital for the last 60 years. The gala attracted approximately 500 guests, and raised more than $100,000 for the hospital.
