Discover Your Dosha at This Monticello Wellness Resort

Mindfulness retreats often bill themselves as places to escape the materialistic and technological world with understated, subdued décor, suggesting that a minimalistic setting is most conducive to introspection. While it can be helpful to curtail distractions (sorry, Instagram), connecting with your inner self and the virtues of luxury are not mutually exclusive. Why not discover your dosha with a freshly made green juice in hand while dressed in a hotel robe and slippers?

The first Indian holistic wellness program of its kind in the U.S., YO1 Wellness Resort and Spa offers guests rejuvenation and re-balance, with a focus on Ayurveda, naturopathy, and yoga. (YO1, derived from the word yovan, means “youth” in Sanskrit.)

Upon arrival, guests meet with a wellness counselor to determine their mind/body type, or dominant dosha, discuss individual health goals, and prepare a bespoke itinerary that might include daily yoga, deep-tissue massages, mud masks, hydromassages, and shirodhara (an Ayurvedic treatment, during which warmed oil is dripped on your forehead to relieve headaches and soothe the body).

The year-old retreat, located on 1,310 picturesque acres, has 131 rooms and suites with all the amenities, from massive armoires and big-screen TVs to rainfall showers, heated toilet seats, and, in some cases, adjoining massage rooms. Also onsite are a 5,000 sq. ft. indoor pool, juice bar, state-of-the-art fitness center, theater, nature trails, and indoor- and outdoor-dining areas. Meals focus on Indian flavors and locally sourced ingredients, intended to heal the body from within.

All-inclusive wellness packages start at $599/night; â€‹www.yo1.com
