The Nutcracker

The Catskill Mountain Foundation, in cooperation with former Metropolitan Opera ballerina Victoria Rinaldi, choreographer Margo Sappington and Eugene Petrov, Artistic Director of Petrov Ballet, presents the world’s favorite ballet, The Nutcracker!

The CMF Nutcracker, now in its sixth year, has become a holiday favorite of residents of the surrounding Catskills and Hudson Valley. Featuring ballet stars of the future, this spectacular production has become one of the finest professional Nutcrackers in upstate New York.

In this special holiday production, Petrov Ballet, along with select guest artists, will dazzle in the major dance roles. Victoria Rinaldi works with the community to stage the party, battle, angels and Mother Ginger. Award-winning choreographer Margo Sappington returns to play Auntie Drosselmeyer.

The Nutcracker is the story of a young girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and his fierce battle against a Mouse King. According to folklore, nutcrackers represent power and strength and bring good luck to your family and protect your home. The story of The Nutcracker is a dream about good triumphing evil through the goodness of heart of a young child. The Nutcracker is a two-act ballet, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The libretto is adapted by E.T.A. Hoffman’s story “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”.

Record Store Day | Drop III Music

Since 2008, Record Store Day has grown into the world’s largest single-day music event, shining a light on the culture of the indie record store across the globe. In 2020, that world is different, so Record Store Day will be too. RSD is now scheduled to be celebrated with special, properly distanced release dates on Saturdays in August, September and October.

😷 RECORD STORE DAY IS SOCIAL DISTANCING! 😷

Record Store Day will look very different this year, but supporting indie record stores may be more important than ever. No one knows what kind of party we’ll all be in the mood for, or able to hold safely, at any time this year, in any part of the world. We don’t know what sort of rules will be in place, or what sort of gatherings people will be in the mood for this year, so we’re focusing on the music and getting the really great titles on the RSD Official List this year into the stores and into your hands, in the most financially and socially responsible way.

⬇️ RSD DROPS! ⬇️

Shop 100s of exclusive vinyl releases ONLY available at independent record stores! The titles on the RSD 2020 Official List, originally launched on March 5th, will be released at participating record stores on one of these three RSD Drops: August 29th, September 26th, and October 24th. As usual, NO preorders or reservations and one copy per person limit.

See the complete list(s) at recordstoreday.com

We will post our menu of available titles before each drop date (join our email list and follow us on social media for first look) We’ll have printed copies here- and encourage you to check off what you’d like and hand it to Darkside staff when at the register to keep things moving smoothly.

Join our email to get the menu: http://bit.ly/darksideemail

We will open at 9am! In the interest of safety for all, we will be operating a socially distanced line: MASK AND SOCIAL DISTANCING (6’ MIN) REQUIRED. We will have a dedicated entrance and exit, with 2 customers from the RSD line allowed in the store at a time to make their purchases. When we reach capacity in-store we will pause the line until some folks exit.

There will be separate registers for non-RSD purchases. We will have more fun going on inside and outside of the store including a vinyl record sale, free coffee from The Poughkeepsie Grind, giveaways, and more.

RSVP here, Sign up for our email list or see our website http://bit.ly/dsrsd for complete details and updates. We appreciate your patience and support and will be doing everything in our power to ensure everyone has a fun, safe time.
