Hudson Valley towns remember those who bravely served our country at these ceremonies, vehicle convoys, and virtual events.


Veterans Day Wreath Laying Ceremony

Mater Christi Memorial Grove / Vietnam and Gold Star Memorials, Albany
November 11, 11 a.m.

In lieu of the city’s annual Veterans Day Parade, the Joint Veterans Committee celebrates with two wreath-laying ceremonies starting at the Mater Christi Memorial Grove on South Lake Ave. Demonstrations by the Albany High School JROTC Color Guard and music from Corrections Dept. Emerald Society Pipe Band add to the festivities.


Veterans Day Parade

Veterans Monument, Hudson
November 11, 10:15 a.m.

Beginning in the morning on Sunday, the City of Hudson hosts a full-day ceremony to honor the nation’s veterans. The community can attend the wreath-laying event, march in the parade, and listen to commemorative remarks from local officials.


Veterans Day Observances

Throughout Dutchess County
November 9-11

The community is welcome to attend local observances to honor veterans in the community and those we lost in the past.

Veterans Day Vehicle Convoy

Starting at Dutchess County War Memorial, Poughkeepsie
November 11, 9 a.m.

The traditional celebrations held annually at the Dutchess County War Memorial at the intersection of Raymond Ave. and Main St. could not take place this year due to COVID-19 regulations. County police, fire department, armed services, and local municipal vehicles will honor those who served our country by driving throughout the county in a convoy.

Veterans Day Service

MIA/POW Park, Wappingers Falls
November 11, 11 a.m – 12 p.m.

Honor the individuals who served our country at the Mayor Joseph McDonald MIA/POW Park on Wednesday morning.

Veterans Eat Free at Savona’s

Savona’s Trattoria, Poughkeepsie / Kingston / Red Hook
November 11, 11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Savona‘s Trattoria serves up a three-course Italian meal free for all veterans with a military I.D., with chicken francese, beef bolognese lasagna, and baked eggplant as entreé options.

Veterans Day Ceremony

Town Hall, Wappingers Falls
November 11, 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Venture to the Wappingers Town Hall for the commemoration ceremony on Wednesday afternoon. The event will be live-streamed on Facebook for those unable to attend in person.

Veterans Day Memorial Service

Fishkill Supply Depot Burial Ground, Fishkill
November 11, 1–5 p.m.

At this military cemetery, individuals can gather to honor the lives that were lost in American conflicts throughout history. RSVP at the Fishkill Supply Depot Website to attend the memorial.

Red Hook Ceremony

Veterans Memorial Park, Red Hook
November 11, 6 p.m.

Show admiration for those who served at this Red Hook park.


Veterans Day Memorial Service

Monument Park, Waynesburg
November 11, 11–11:30 a.m.

A small service will be held at the majestic “Soldiers and Sailors” monument in Waynesburg. The Greene County Honor Guard will be in attendance alongside the Veterans Council of Greene County.


Newburgh Town Hall Service

Town Hall, Newburgh
November 11, 11 a.m.

Newburgh’s town hall will host a socially distant ceremony honoring Orange County’s many service men and women.

Veterans Day Observance and Patriotic Ceremony

Hudson Sports Complex, Warwick
November 11, 11 a.m.

The New York Army National Guard will showcase military equipment, tactical vehicle displays, and other interactive experiences for the whole family. Video games, athletic competitions, and food vendors will make this celebration extra special.


Virtual Exhibit and Medal Ceremony For Veterans of Putnam

Online all week

More than 100 years ago Putnam County issued a service medal to recognize the bravery and selflessness of local residents that fought in WWI. This virtual exhibit showcases footage from last year’s medal ceremony honoring WWII and Korean War veterans in similar fashion.


Veterans Day at Bennington Battlefield

Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site, Hoosick Falls
November 11, 3 p.m.

Friends of the Bennington Battlefield will gather in period-accurate uniforms to share the stories of this region’s many generations of brave veterans, ending with a musket-fire salute.


Virtual Veterans Day Ceremony

Town of Clarkstown Facebook
Starting November 10, 12 p.m. 

This ceremony, capped with a speech from the town supervisor and demonstration from the Clarkstown Police Department, will be held via live-stream and can be viewed for the rest of the week.


Monument Dedication

City Hall, Kingston
November 11, 11 a.m. 

Hosted by the Kingston Veterans Association, this ceremony will start on the front lawn of Kingston’s town hall. A new monument commemorating the service of veterans who fought in the “War on Terror” will be dedicated, with Kingston’s Mayor in attendance.
