The Tipping Point: Artists Address Climate Change, Aqueous Remains, and Quotidian Metamorphosis concerns issues regarding our environment. Several artists explore the relationship between nature and humanity affecting climate change, in an effort to open a dialogue on this critical problem concerning our planet. This humanitarian issue is captured in the artists’ works that first appear beautiful but, ultimately, reveal the ugly truth of damage, transmutation, and the decomposed. Featured artists are: J. Henry Fair, David Maisel, Alison Moritsugu, Richard Parrish, Jill Pelto, Aurora Robson, and Jaynie Crimmins. A free panel discussion on Climate Change with leaders from science, art, and the humanities will take place on May 12 at 7 p.m. Exhibition on view Mar. 25–May 25. Through April 15: Abstract Minded: Works by Six Contemporary African Artists The artists, all natives of Africa, produce work thematically or conceptually connected to their homeland as a way of opening communication in abstract forms. Their rich traditional use of textile design, and other decorative practices from the continent, speaks volumes about their culture. Through July 15: Marking Time: Andy Warhol’s Vision of Celebrations, Commemorations, and Anniversaries Andy Warhol took notice of various social practices to mark occasions such as births, deaths, and celebrations, representing them in his photography. This exhibit explores his insights into these social and personal significances.
