A 24-year-old guitarist from Woodstock is now a member of jazz rock icon Steely Dan’s touring band. One of Hudson Valley Magazine’s 2012 People to Watch at just 17 years old, Connor Kennedy will perform with Steely Dan during their upcoming Las Vegas residency after sitting with the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers on a number of occasions: Saratoga Performing Arts Center in June 2018; Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in July; and the Beacon Theatre in October.

Kennedy, who picked up the guitar around the third grade, was first scouted by Steely Dan co-founder Donald Fagen, a Bard College graduate, in 2012 when Kennedy performed at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock as a special guest with Lindsey Webster.

After Kennedy sat in with the Dukes of September, a super-group that included Fagen, Boz Scaggs, and Michael McDonald, for a single song called Pretzel Logic at the Beacon Theatre, he was invited to join Fagen’s side project, Donald Fagen & the Nightflyers, on its 2017 tour, which also included several other young Ulster County musicians.
