Wylder Windham: Where Traditions Are Made

For centuries, families have traveled to the Catskill Mountains to explore the wildlife, scientific vistas, and countless miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. One favorite destination was the legendary Thomson House Resort, established along the Batavia Kill River in 1798.

Sold in 2021 to the independent adventure hospitality brand Wylder Hotels, the 20-acre property underwent a top-to-bottom restoration and was reintroduced in July 2022 as Wylder Hotel Windham.

This legendary “Gem of the Catskills” brings an entirely new experience to Windham and the Greater Northern Catskills that captures the nostalgic spirit and timeless pleasures this cherished land offers.

Simple Pleasures

The completely reimagined year-round, family- and dog-friendly property offers seven different lodging experiences, including 110 guest rooms with views of the white-capped Windham Mountain, a lively restaurant and bakery concept, 4,000 square feet of private event spaces, an oversized in-ground heated pool, and an expansive outdoor lawn.

Guests can relax under the fall foliage in hammocks and tree swings, rejuvenate in one of the European-style wood-fired saunas, enjoy warm conversations and s’mores around the fire pit, meet friends on the pickleball courts for a friendly match, take in a round of golf at the Windham Country Club, ride a tube down the Batavia Kill, or ski down the nearby Windham Mountain.

Lodging, Reimagined

Each of Wylder Windham’s seven historic lodges, inns, manors, and cottages was lovingly restored by local artisans to have their own unique personalities. The Tamarack Lodge, The Manor, The Spruce Cottage, The Evergreen Lodge, The Main Lodge, and The Farmhouse — all have all been rebuilt by the esteemed design firm Post Company, local architect Jason Anderson, and local craftsmen from Baxter Built.

The hotel offers 110 suites and king- and queen-bedded guest rooms with oak floors, custom furniture, and luxurious bathrooms. More than six dozen rooms feature large balconies with unobstructed views of Windham Mountain or the winding Batavia Kill.

The property also features more than 4,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, creating the perfect setting for wedding celebrations, family reunions, social engagements, and corporate meetings.

From Victorian buildings to modern accommodations and residences, guests can enjoy an intimate weekend getaway or rent the entire Wylder Windham property for private events and functions. The property can accommodate up to 200 guests.
