Protect and Take Care of Your Hair With Tee-Owels

Tee-Owels is the woman-owned, Hudson Valley-based brand that prioritizes preventative haircare to minimize breakage and frizz.

Is your hair feeling dry, frizzy, or lackluster? If so, it’s time for a better hair experience in the Hudson Valley.

Enter Tee-Owels.

Designed by Orange County entrepreneur Liz Girolamo, Tee-Owels is a one-stop shop for anyone who wants to minimize damage and prioritize preventative haircare. Named after its eponymous product, the brand is known for its organic cotton t-shirt hair towels, which dry hair in a way that protects strands and prevents breakage.

“My whole goal for this brand is to really be an industry leader in protective haircare,” Girolamo explains, adding that there’s no better time than the present to focus on caring for your hair.

After first developing the concept for Tee-Owels in college, she launched it with a fun, innovative spirit echoes across everything from the sweet towel colors to the brand’s signature owl logo. Since then, Tee-Owels has been featured in leading beauty magazines like ElleGlamour, and Vogue.

Of all its products, Tee-Owels’ signature hair towels are by far the most popular, largely thanks to their ultra-soft and durable t-shirt material that tucks and wraps to stay perfectly in place. Color options range from mint and pink to black, lilac, and even a limited-edition pineapple print. There are “Owelet” hair towels for kids, too, along with an Orig the Owl plush toy for anyone who wants to cuddle up with the brand’s sweet mascot.

While Tee-Owels lead the brand’s product line, its satin pillowcases, which come in colors as classic as black or as pretty as pink, are also much-loved. Equally popular are its satin scrunchies, which retail in three-packs and range in style from earthy and wild to happy, funky, and sassy. In terms of materials used, Girolamo prioritizes only those that benefit and protect hair. With the towels, for instance, organic cotton is both eco-friendly and gentle for hair. Likewise, satin helps hair lock in its natural moisture and minimize breakage.

“It’s about the little preventative things you do,” Girolamo says about the central concept of her brand. While haircare is the foundation for Tee-Owels, eco-friendly initiatives like reducing waste and avoiding harsh dyes are equally important.

“I really believe in the eco-friendly movement,” she notes, adding that she’s made a conscious effort to streamline Tee-Owels packaging as much as possible.

With its headquarters in the Hudson Valley, Tee-Owels retails primarily online and maintains a large presence on Instagram.

“We have a whole niche in the curly market of people really loving our products now,” Girolamo enthuses. In addition to her online store, she wholesales Tee-Owels internationally to countries like Chile and Australia, with plans to expand even more in the coming year. For next year, she hints at satin-lined winter hats as a new launch for the brand, citing her own frustrations with hat hair as her motivation to create the product.
