At Oakwood Friends School we are off and running! Navigating a boarding and day program during a global pandemic is not without its challenges, and yet, we continue to grow, learn, celebrate, and mark milestones. With the largest enrollment in over fifty years, our faculty continues to challenge, nurture, and support students academically, socially, and emotionally in grades 5 through 12.
Boarding students from ten countries and around the United States engage with peers from the Hudson Valley. Students actively participate in a diverse learning community, celebrating our differences as strengths to be shared and explored. Through a curriculum focused on inquiry, reflection and action, students think critically, listen deeply, and apply their learning within their communities.
Celebrating 100 years on our Poughkeepsie campus, and 225 years of Friends Education, students are as likely to be found in a math class as they are behind a pottery wheel, in the greenhouse, or engaged in service learning. Having successfully completed a major theater renovation campaign, students can now also engage in multiple productions as both actors on stage and technicians in the state-of-the-art lighting/sound booth. With a continued commitment to health and safety at every level, Oakwood students are engaged, involved, and excited to be on campus together. To learn more about the program, schedule a tour or check out the website. We look forward to seeing you on campus.
