Founded in 1885 as The Boys’ Camping Society, the YMCA opened its current Frost Valley facility in Claryville, New York, in 1958. Now a center for adventure, growth, and fun that serves more than 39,000 people every year, Frost Valley has grown to become one of the premier outdoor camping, group retreat, and environmental education centers in the world. On any given day, Frost Valley YMCA bustles with the energy and enthusiasm that accompanies curiosity, discovery, and exploration of the wonders of nature.
But when the Covid-19 pandemic struck, Frost Valley YMCA went quiet like many other gathering places. The staff and leadership took this time to review and assess all aspects of their programming, looking to innovate and strive for even higher quality programs and facilities.
New Programs for Youth, Adults, Families, and Groups
Frost Valley YMCA’s unwavering commitment to providing quality, meaningful, and engaging outdoor education is evidenced by the plethora of new, exciting programming for 2024. And their offerings are not limited to children—there are programs for adults, families, schools, and corporations.
2024 brings a range of summer camps to choose from, including overnight camps, day camps, teen adventure camps, and specialty camps offering different themes, including Wizardry World and Lego Masters. All camps for children and teens incorporate fun traditions and focus on building a healthy body and mind. Plus, there are so many choices! Whether your child or teen wants to care for animals on a working farm or sample outdoor adventure like backpacking and climbing, there’s a camp for them.
Frost Valley also offers special family weekends where families can share fun and enjoy seasonal activities together, such as boating and apple picking. We also offer programs for scouts, and host school field trips.
Frost Valley team building retreats are available for colleges, schools, corporate groups, and youth groups and are custom designed for the group and what they want to achieve. Activities may range from climbing the Y Tower, a blindfold walk, or tackling the ropes course. No membership is required to participate in any camps or programs offered at the Frost Valley YMCA.
