The Face of the Modern Farm

From left to right: Councilman Richard Ryan and Tom Ryan

The “Face of the Modern Farm” certainly looks much different today then it did 97 years ago when Ryan Family Farm was first purchased in the hamlet of Billings (aka Ryanville). The Barn, Farmhouse, Mine, and Lake all have been renovated to host weddings, celebrations, retreats, and other community gatherings to meet society needs today. Richard Ryan (Richie), proud father and husband, sought-after excavation expert, recently elected Town of Lagrange Councilman, and around-town local do-gooder, was the determined force to build out the property. He has materialized the most creative, sustainable solution needed for the next generation to support. Richie recruited Tom Ryan (Tommy), Culinary Institute of America alumnus, Ritz-Carlton Hotelier veteran, hospitality consultant, newly ordained vineyard brand ambassador, and global nomad. These two teamed up together just a few short years ago to create the most unique “activated farm site” in Dutchess County, ready to make memories for the next 100 years.
