This photograph shows Middletown’s Paramount Theater, located on South Street, as it appeared around 1950. The movie on the marquee is “Magic Town,” a film centered on a public opinion poller (played by Jimmy Stewart) who discovers a town whose demographics perfectly match those of the country as a whole. The famous “Middletown” sociological studies from the 1920s and 1930s inspired the movie’s plot, but that “Middletown” was actually Muncie, Indiana — not the city in Orange County.

Glenn Close was drop-dead gorgeous in her Zac Posen gown. The dress seemed a bit tight, but totally age appropriate. The mermaid tail is such a beautiful detail, and the deep blue tone is refreshing after seeing so many bright hues on the red carpet.
