A guide to New York’s distilleries comes to the Web.

They want to help you find New York whiskey. And gin. And apple brandy. More importantly, they want to help you find your way to the New York distilleries responsible for crafting such spirits.

The New York Distillers Guild has launched NYDistilled.com, a virtual guide to the Empire state’s craft distilleries. Organized by producer and by region — the Finger Lakes or metro-New York City, for example — the site is designed to help consumers discover who is creating craft liquor in New York, and where to taste those spirits.

“We’re hoping people will start using the site to plan their outings or their vacations,” says Daric Schlesselman, New York Distillers Guild board member and the craft distiller behind Van Brunt Stillhouse.

In addition to searching distillers by location or name, liquor lovers can filter results by product. Those on a quest to find that perfect summer gin, for example, can isolate 16 New York distilleries that produce the spirit, with search results categorized by region. NYDistilled.com also features two beverage trails — one for the Hudson Valley and one for New York City — but the Guild expects more trails to appear on the site in the future. Take, for example, Schlesselman’s own dream of an “apple trail,” which would outline all the producers in the state creating an apple-based spirit.

Not every distillery is listed at NYDistilled.com — it’s a benefit offered exclusively to members of the New York State Distillers Guild — but the majority are. Currently, New York is home to 109 craft distillers, up from 10 in 2010. Of these, 80 craft distillers are Guild members. Because each distillery must keep its page updated to appear in searches, 62 are on NYDistilled.com. In the Hudson Valley, Warwick’s Black Dirt Distillery, Beacon’s Dennings Point Distillery, and Goshen’s Orange County Distillery are found on the list.

Still, it’s now easier than ever to drink in New York.
